me, me, me

April 17th, 2007

I’m Sharon, and this is my little piece of the Internets.
I’m currently a full-time student studying International Studies. I’m mom to a beautiful toddler (Monkey). I’m a lover of books, yarn, wine, running, traveling, writing, taking pictures, snuggling, and politics. Not necessarily in that order.

Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi Sharon-
I tripped on your blog.. We adopted our oldest son from Los Pisingos in 2003 and had the best experience in Colombia. The whole trip was the ultimate family honeymoon. We love Los Pisingos and admire their professionalism and dedication to their work; their attention to the kids’ needs is second to none and their respect and support of biological moms’ is impressive. I don’t know if you’re still there but if you are I would like to ask you for a favor…and although we would love to have more kids in the future(we have three now) you need not worry, the favor is not to bring another one home for us, not yet ;) Please email me.

    Thanks,
    Aida

    Hello Sharon,

I love the pictures of Los Pisingos and the great light you shine on it. Apparently that is where I spent the first several months of my life. I was adopted in early 1986! My parents went down and got me when I was about four months old. I am interested to hear more about your trip. I don’t know how old you are but I am looking for advice on the safety of the area, I am looking to visit sometime but do not speak spanish and would have no idea what to expect. If you could e-mail me that would be great!

This is great, Sharon. Help us spread the word that Colombia has the third largest population of displaced children in the world. We adopted our daughter in 2006: she was 14 at the time. We couldn’t get the girls from her orphanage out of our minds…

I love Colombia: if it wasn’t so expensive to fly there, I’d go and visit more often.

I loved your wonderful pictures - would it be ok to print a couple as enlargements for my son’s birthday? He was adopted from Los Pisingos in 1977. I was a volunteer there at the time at the Protection Home (before there were more buidings on the property). I think it is so great you have been there. Would love for you to blog more of your experience there.
