Ishbel
March 29th, 2009

You know how parents are always telling their kids that they love all their kids the same? Yeah, that’s not true when it comes to my knitting. Because, this one, this gorgeousness that will be wrapped around my neck every day from now on, is my absolute favorite project evah’.

Deets: Ishbel by Ysolda
Yarn: Malabrigo Sock in Tiziano Red
Needles: US5
Rav’d

Malabrigo lace has to be the most delicious lace yarn ever. The color has so much depth to it (the first picture is the most accurate color-wise.) The finished shawl has a beautiful sheen and drape to it. Ack, I wanna eat it…I mean, you know, if I didn’t want to wrap it around my neck and all.
Ysolda’s patterns are so clear and well-written. She’s certainly outdone herself with this shawl. In an effort to use up as much of this gorgeous yarn as possible, I made the stockinette portion for the largest size, but I followed the pattern repeats for the smallest size. In the end, I think I had enough yarn leftover to make the largest size. It would’ve been close, though.

I got the whole Whimsical Little Knits Collection, so stay tuned for a few more Ysolda originals popping up here and there.
I’m off to go fondle my shawl again.

Ok that’s it! You have totally inspired me to learn how to knit and crochet. I will have time this summer because I won’t have all the extra school/karate/outside work stuff to clog up my time. So..if you can tell me about some good easy “this is how you do it” books, that would be awesome!
I love this shawl…the color is fabulous!

What a great call on a. the yarn choice and b. doing the extra stockinette–why didn’t I think of that?! It is a stunner for sure:)

It’s beautiful! I have a bunch of other stuff on my queue so I’ve been trying to resist Ishbel’s charms, but I think you’ve done me in.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I have yet to find a shawl that I can knit happily and finish, but this one looks likeit is worth the time invested. The yarn looks super gorgeous. I have Malabrigo lace for a hemlock ring, but I am sure I will have some left over. How many skeins did you use?
